Evolution
Two axes, not one: how much evidence supports a pattern, and where it is heading. "Established" and "you are correcting it" can both be true at once.
Two axes, because they are two truths
The original brief asked for a maturity scale. Merging the pattern's state into it would have lied by compression — and those two are exactly the ones you need to tell apart.
How much evidence supports it. It comes from the number of times it has been observed and the accumulated confidence.
Where it is heading. It comes from the hypothesis's state and its trend.
“Established” and “you are correcting it” are true at the same time. A single number would have averaged them into nothing.
“APEX learned” only with a real change
There are exactly three cases in which APEX can claim it. There is no fourth, and it is not filled in with an encouraging phrase.
Within the novelty window. It is knowledge that did not exist before.
The hypothesis moved to resolved. That is the closest thing to good news this system can give, which is why it is not handed out lightly.
Its trend changed measurably. It is also learning, even if you would rather not read it.
And they are never confused
There is not enough sample, and APEX says what it is missing. No default values and no “probable” patterns.
The layer exists and is declared. But it never says how many patterns there are behind it: the server does not tell a plan that does not receive them, so a number there would be invented. A test pins this.
All three plans see the screen
APEX Intelligence is cross-cutting, not a Max feature. The model is derived the same way for everyone; what changes with the plan is the depth the server serves: a basic plan does not receive hypotheses, rules or episodic memory; an intermediate one receives almost everything.
What is exclusive to Max is “Your evolution”, the long view with the curve, the radar and the six full dimensions. And it does not repeat what is elsewhere: the dashboard shows the headline and links to the detail, the curve lives only there, and the pattern detail only in Intelligence. Repeating the same block on two screens is what made the experience feel cluttered.
Every figure carries its label, its note on where it comes from and, when it applies, its change. A number without provenance on a personal-evolution screen is a claim without an author.
